In her 1960 autobiography, Here Lies the Heart, she claimed to have been intimate with Isadora Duncan, Marlene Dietrich , Alice B. Toklas, Marie Laurencin, Eva Le Gallienne, Malvina Hoffman, Adele Astaire and Greta Garbo.
