  5. BORN: October 5, 1933, Pocohontas, AR Billy Lee Riley is a rockabilly singer and multi-instrumentalist. An alumni of Sun Records, he was one of the most crazed, unabashed rockers that label had to offer -- in the company of Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Sonny Burgess, that's saying a lot.

  6. Billy Lee was born October 5, 1933 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. Riley is part Indian blood, and like the others at Sun, heard the Black Blues in the cotton fields, and White Country music on the radio. Like many of the Sun artists, Riley was born dirt poor, and at one time lived with his family in an army tent.

  7. Billy Lee Riley died of colon cancer on August 2nd 2009, at the age of 75. 2005 marks Billy Lee Riley's 49th year in the music business as artist, writer, producer and label owner. He remembers recording his first commercial recording in a garage on Fernwood Street in Memphis, engineered by Jack Clement.
