Princess Alexandra Victoria was born on 21 April 1887 at Grünholz Castle in Schleswig-Holstein, Prussia as the second-eldest child and daughter of Frederick Ferdinand, Duke of Schleswig-Holstein and his wife Princess Karoline Mathilde of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg, a great-niece of Queen Victoria .

He married secondly Countess Natalia Nikolaievna Golovina (1724-1767), granddaughter of Count Fyodor Golovin, daughter of Count Nicholas Fedorovich Golovin (1695-1745) and his wife, Sophie Pushkina (1700-1745), on 15 March 1742.

The Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck was named after Beck House, a manor in Ulenburg, which is today the smallest borough of Löhne, a town in north-eastern North Rhine-Westphalia.

Ernest Günther I of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (14 October 1609 – 18 January 1689) was a Duke of Schleswig-Holstein of its Sonderburg line. [1] He was the first to have his ducal seat in Augustenborg Palace, which he built and named in honor of his wife. [2] He ruled from 1647 until his death in 1689.
