Man Facing Southeast is Argentine director Eliseo Subiela’s 1986 cult classic, a powerfully moving science ction parable of a saint-like stranger in an even stranger land – our Earth. This critically-acclaimed gem has not been available on DVD or Blu-ray in the United States, until now.
A new patient mysteriously appears in a psychiatric ward. He claims to come from another planet to study humans and their behavior. The alien is gentle but criticizes humans for their harsh treatment of each other. The assigned psychiatrist is himself unhappy, and affected by the patient's insight. But he is ordered to treat the patient according to institutional procedure.

4 mag 2013 · Man Facing Southeast isn’t without flaws. It’s a bit preachy at times, and it’s big dollop of Biblical metaphor could have been a bit more subtle. But it has to be commended for its originality, and the wonderful performances by the three leads. Unfortunately, Man Facing Southeast has been forgotten by the movie industry.
