Catherine Sedley, död 1717, var en engelsk hovfunktionär. Hon är känd som mätress åt Jakob II av England. Hon utnämndes till hovfröken åt Maria av Modena 1677 och blev sedan mätress åt Jakob II. Paret fick inga barn. När Jakob II besteg tronen 1685 fick hon en pension och utnämndes till grevinna av Dorchester.

14 nov 2021 · SEDLEY, CATHARINE, Countess of Dorchester (1657–1717), born on 21 Dec. 1657, and baptised eight days later at St. Giles-in-the-Fields, was the only child of Sir Charles Sedley [q. v.], by Catharine, daughter of John Savage, earl Rivers. As early as June 1673 Evelyn spoke of her as ‘none of the virtuous, but a wit.’.

Daughter of Sir Charles Sedley, 5th Baronet, Catherine's charm and wit caught the attention of King James II of England. She became his mistress both before and after he ascended to the throne.
