Sir Alexander MacRobert, 1st Baronet (21 May 1854 – 22 June 1922) was a self-made millionaire from Aberdeen, Scotland. He came from a working-class background and left school when he was twelve to start his working life sweeping floors in Stoneywood Paper Mill ; his education was continued by attending evening classes and he gained several qualifications as his early career progressed.

Born at Dunrobin Castle, the second son of Alexander Gordon, 12th Duke of Sutherland (c.1552-94), Gordon was educated at the University of St. Andrews and then in Edinburgh. He studied law in France (1603-05) and then moved to London where, in 1606, he was appointed a privy councillor by King James VI (1566 - 1625).

According to historian Robert Mackay, quoting 17th-century historian Sir Robert Gordon, 1st Baronet, in 1585 a meeting took place at Elgin, Scotland between George Gordon, 1st Marquess of Huntly, Alexander Gordon, 12th Earl of Sutherland, George Sinclair, 5th Earl of Caithness and Huistean Du Mackay, 13th of Strathnaver.
