21 lug 2021 · Julius Machulski's Sexmission was an immense success upon its release in Poland in 1984, though outside of the Eastern Bloc it is largely regarded as a cult curio. Machulski's second feature after the great Vabank, Sexmission has been proclaimed the best Polish film of the last 30 years in a poll by readers of three film magazines.
Juliusz Machulski • Studio Filmowe ZEBRA. Director, screenwriter and film producer. Between 1973 and 1974 he studied Polish Philology at the University of Warsaw. Graduated from the Direction Faculty of the State Film School in Łódź in 1978. Between 1984 and 1985 he studied at Cal Arts in California (Fulbright Scholarship).

After the poor reception of Wild Wild West made by Josephson and Levinson, two stopped working together, putting aside the possibility of working on the film adaptation. Barry Sonnenfeld was also interested in directing the movie.
Machulski and his son, director Juliusz Machulski, collaborated and worked together on several different films. Their first collaboration occurred in 1981 when he appeared in the film, Vabank, which was directed by Juliusz Machulski.
