20 gen 2020 · In quel periodo Marie si innamorò di Pierre Curie, un professore della scuola di Fisica e Chimica Industriale di Parigi che nel luglio del 1895 divenne suo marito. Il grande interesse di entrambi per la scienza li portò a rinchiudersi in laboratorio per approfondire le ricerche dello scienziato Becquerel che nel 1896 aveva scoperto accidentalmente le proprietà radioattive dell’uranio.

On April 19, 1906, Pierre Curie was run over by a horse-drawn wagon near the Pont Neuf in Paris and killed. Now Marie was left alone with two daughters, Irène aged 9 and Ève aged 2.
