Bristol Grammar School (BGS) is a 4–18 mixed, private day school in Bristol, England. It was founded in 1532 by Royal Charter for the teaching of 'good manners and literature', endowed by wealthy Bristol merchants Robert and Nicholas Thorne who made their money through the work and trade of enslaved Africans. All Senior School pupils are expected to wear the School uniform and maintain a good standard of appearance, including when travelling to and from BGS. Should a vacancy arise, we will take all reasonable steps to contact all those on the waiting list with a test date. The place (s) will then be awarded on merit.
