Thorne received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Caltech and attained master’s and doctoral degrees from Princeton.
Kip Stephen Thorne (born June 1, 1940) is an American theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate. He is known for his contributions in gravitational physics and astrophysics . In 2017, Thorne was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics along with Rainer Weiss and Barry C. Barish "for decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves ".
