  1. 1 dic 2009 · The Lisbon Treaty marked a significant modernisation in the procedures and democratic practices of the EU. It strengthened the EU's principles of transparency and public access to information, for example specifying that ministers at the Council of the EU legislate in public and so do members of the European Parliament – these meetings are now streamed live.
