A producer for CBS News “60 Minutes”, a correspondent for PBS “Frontline”, a Ferris Professor of Journalism at Princeton, a writer and author, she has won two Emmys, two George Polk Awards, two Columbia Dupont journalism awards, and the Robert F. Kennedy Award.

Leslie Cockburn is an American investigative journalist, and filmmaker. Her investigative television segments have aired on CBS, NBC, PBS Frontline, and 60 Minutes. She has won an Emmy Award, The Hillman Prize, Alfred I. duPont–Columbia University Award, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, and the George Polk Award.
Leslie Cockburn provides an elaborately documented account of what happened in US sponsoring and arming the Contras in Nicaragua. The CIA, and under Reagan, US army high officials collaborated and committed conspiracy to sell arms to Iran, give arms to the Contras and saturate US markets with gigantic quantities of imported cocaine (sic).
Leslie Cockburn was born in San Francisco and is a graduate of Yale University. She began her documentary film career in 1980 at CBS Reports. She directed and produced several films for PBS Frontline, including Inside the Cartels and The War We Left Behind. She directed and produced Peter Jennings Reporting From the Killing Fields.
