3 mag 2024 · Catholicism and her upbringing cast large shadows. Director Ethan Hawke makes just about everything important. Though some moments seem undercooked – the subplot involving Pulitzer Prize winning poet Robert Lowell adds nothing – the vast majority is a captivating watch. The movie is also a great introduction to Southern Gothic literature.
Everything That Rises Must Converge is a hybrid documentary/fiction film. It follows four real-life adult film performers as they start their day at home, get in their cars and drive to work in a nondescript residential house in the San Fernando Valley in Southern California.
