12 mag 2024 · In 1908, de László painted portraits of President and Mrs Theodore Roosvelt at the White House in Washington DC. This would be the first of five visits to the United States of America over his lifetime and he would go on to paint portraits of three further US Presidents: Warren Harding (1921), Calivin Coolidge (1926) and Herbert Hoover (1931).
Philip Alexius de László MVO (Budapest, 30 de abril de 1869 - Londres, 22 de noviembre de 1937) fue un pintor húngaro conocido por sus retratos de la realeza y la aristocracia. László nació en Budapest como Laub Fülöp Elek (estilo húngaro de su apellido), hijo de un sastre judío. La familia cambió su apellido a László en 1891.
Philip de László was born in Hungary under the name Laub Fülöp Elek, and was trained as a porcelain and majolica painter. In 1892 he painted his most famous work “The Hofbräuhaus.” He then became a portraitist, especially of high-ranking aristocrats (including the Bulgarian royal and German Imperial family).
