Downe House was founded as 'a school where every individual within the community matters', and we hold true to this ethos today. We work in partnership with parents to ensure that every Downe House pupil leaves school with a lifelong intellectual curiosity, the confidence, skills, and know-how to be successful and to face life's challenges, and a steadfast place in a lively school community.
On formal acceptance of the offer (payment of deposit and signed acceptance), Downe House Riyadh will welcome you, and enrol your child as a new pupil. This then leads to a series of events and processes to initiate and integrate each pupil and their parents into the wider Downe House family, as preparation for a smooth transition and a positive start at the school.
Consequently, Downe House was established as ‘a school where each individual within the community matters and where relationships between staff and pupils are normal’. Our values have not changed since the School opened in 1907; kindness and respect for others are as valued today as they were when the School was founded.
About us. Downe House Riyadh is the first premium, British girls’ school to open in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The school is exclusively for girls from Year 5 to Year 13 (ages 9–18) and co-educational (mixed boys’ and girls’ classes) in Pre-Prep and Lower Prep (ages 3-9).

Progressing into the Upper School at 13+, girls move into their Upper School House, living there until they have completed their GCSEs. For a closer look at Lower School boarding, you can read our guide to starting life at Downe House. A highlight of Lower School is France. At 12+, all girls will spend up to a term at our smaller school in France.
