It became the tangible reflection of the social and cultural ideas of the Renaissance, which were readily embraced in Poland, as exemplified by the establishment of a university (Zamość Academy) by Jan Zamoyski, the founder and owner of the town.
Jan Zamoyski was born on 19 March 1542 to Stanisław Zamoyski and Anna Herburt in Skokówka. Education He started his education in a school in Krasnystaw but when he was thirteen years old he was sent to study abroad. Already at this young age he attended lectures at the Sorbonne University and Collège de France.
