A: Growing as an artist and also stretching your mind takes time. We have an extended school day, from 8:15 am to 4:15 pm. You’ll spend four periods a day in academic classes and four in arts classes. After-school rehearsals and studio time are often required.

We were founded as part of Baltimore City Public School System in 1979, after a decade of hard work by a task force, the mayor, and Baltimore City’s arts and community leaders. We were established to provide pre-professional arts training to Baltimore’s children, and given a unique structure designed to help us meet our mission.
