Be a part of the next wave. The Graduate Film program is an intensive three-year conservatory in the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television that trains students in the art of cinematic storytelling. We focus on helping writer/directors develop a narrative voice and the technical virtuosity to express that voice in cinema.

Two letters of recommendation, submitted directly through Slate from your letter writers.

Our highly flexible structure means that students can take classes from any department or program across New York University. Our MFA students have studied interactive design at NYU’s ITP design program , crafted stories with screenwriters in NYU’s world-class film program, and hacked into hardware at NYU’s School of Engineering.
NYFA’s Master of Fine Arts degrees are four to six semesters, depending on the discipline. With an accelerated schedule that allows students to complete three full-length semesters in each calendar year, the MFA degree can be finished in two years.
