Marc Shaiman (Newark 22 de octubre de 1959) es un compositor, letrista y arreglista estadounidense para televisión, teatro y películas. Ha estado siete veces nominado a los Oscar y ha recibido un premio Tony y un Grammy por su trabajo en el musical Hairspray , y otro Emmy por co-escribir la actuaciones de Billy Crystal en los premios Oscar.
Marc Shaiman begann seine Karriere im Filmgeschäft bei Saturday Night Live, wo er als Schreiber eingesetzt war. Sein erster großer Film als Musikkomponist war 1990 Misery . Er arbeitete öfter mit dem Schauspieler und Regisseur Billy Crystal zusammen. Ebenso komponierte er für mehrere Filme des Regisseurs Rob Reiner die Filmmusik.
The Out-of-Towners is a classic comedy score, with a jazzy big band sound. It is not unique in any way - comedy scores often have a very distinct jazz sound (Silvestri's Parent Trap for instance) - but it's really good and, most of all, very fun. Shaiman writes in the liner notes that he really enjoyed writing the score, and it really shows.
