The Pied Pipers were a popular singing group in the late 1930s and 1940s. In 1938 two vocal groups ( The Three Rhythm Kings & The 4 Esquires) and Jo Stafford (from The Stafford Sisters) merged into one supergroup, vocal octet The Pied Pipers. By late 1939 they were down to a quartet and had several personnel changes through the years.

13 feb 2023 · The remaining Pipers (Billy Wilson, Chuck Lowry, Jo Stafford, and her then-husband John Huddleston) joined the Tommy Dorsey Band in 1939, backing Sinatra on many classic recordings. In 1942 the Pied Pipers broke away from Dorsey, and Huddleston joined the army, to be replaced by Hal Hopper, one of the original eight members.
