Gordonstoun is also the birthplace of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, the Outward Bound movement, and was one of the first boarding schools to admit girls alongside boys. The school then had some of the first female firefighters in the UK. Gordonstoun was founded in 1934 by German educationalist Dr Kurt Hahn.
Gordonstoun is one of the UK’s top independent schools for boarding and day pupils aged 4 ½ to 18. In 2019, HM Inspectors would put the school to a rigorous test, concluding that “the extensive range of opportunities for personal achievements in the senior school, as part of the Gordonstoun broader curriculum is outstanding.”
