Na zelf al voor een televisieaflevering een stuk te hebben gecomponeerd, nodigde Oscarwinnaar Hans Zimmer Badelt in 1998 uit om voor zijn bedrijf Media Ventures (vanaf 2003: Remote Control Productions ) in Santa Monica te komen werken.
