Biographie. Actrice britannique, Joan Greenwood débute sur les planches dans les années 40. Elle est repérée par Leslie Howard qui la fait commencer au cinéma. Après la guerre, elle s’illustre dans des comédies culte comme Noblesse oblige (Hamer, 1949), Whisky à gogo (Mackendrick, 1949), L’homme au complet blanc (Mackendrick, 1951).
Silky, sultry-voiced comic actress Joan Greenwood was the daughter of renowned British artist Sydney Earnshaw Greenwood. Trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, she made her stage debut at age 18; three years later she was cast by actor/director Leslie Howard in the lead of the wartime morale-booster The Gentle Sex (1942).
