British-born Eric Porter was a beloved actor, well-known for his memorable performances on the Hollywood movie screen. In his early acting career, Porter appeared in such films as the adaptation "The Fall of the Roman Empire" (1964) with Sophia Loren, the Anne Bancroft dramatic adaptation "The Pumpkin Eater" (1964) and the Kirk Douglas dramatic adaptation "The Heroes of Telemark" (1965).

Specializzato in documentari e spot commerciali, girò anche alcuni lungometraggi. Nel 1972, diresse il primo lungometraggio animato, Marco Polo Junior Versus the Red Dragon.

15 mag 1995 · While attending Wimbleton Technical School, 17-year-old Eric Porter made his theatrical debut at the Arts Theatre in Cambridge. Porter served with the RAF for two years, then began his acting career in earnest, performing in scores of Shakespearean and Chekhovian productions (his two favorite roles were King Lear and Uncle Vanya).
