The feature film “Wyrm” (which takes place in an unnamed U.S. city) had its world premiere at the 2019 edition of Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas, but the movie wasn’t released until 2022. Most of the comedy is deadpan and almost satirical, so don’t expect the typical formula of teen comedies where a geeky male outcast is trying to date his “dream girl.”

The Wyrm of Bwlch Pen Barras is a brand new Welsh folk horror short film set and shot in Rhuthun, N Wales, by debut writer-director - and Rhuthun native - Craig Williams. It stars Welsh-language superstar Bryn Fôn and Seán Carlsen. The film features a stunning score by Dafydd Ieuan & Cian Ciarán of the Super Furry Animals.
A lot of WYRM’s best moments come in two hits, ridiculously funny sequences of dialogue paired with genuine emotional expression, so sharp and quick it almost feels like whiplash. I adore the direction the film takes in its story, allowing the audience to view all its characters as flawed and great people. So much fun and such a great watch!
Our review: Parents say: Not yet rated Rate movie. Kids say: Not yet rated Rate movie. Horny and mournful are an ambitious combination for a 97-minute comedy, and Christopher Winterbauer doesn't quite make it work. It's easy to see why his original short film, also titled Wyrm, got attention on the festival circuit.
