3 set 2000 · Once one gets past the lurid poster title that I Bury the Living has been sold with, Albert Band develops a fascinatingly stark atmosphere. The film has a unique one idea premise – one that could easily have served as an episode of The Twilight Zone (1959-63) – of a man who develops the power to cause people to die by pushing pins into a map of the cemetery.

Unjustly ignored by many books on the horror film, I Bury the Living is a bone-chilling little mood piece, almost completed dominated by Richard Boone. Expertly avoiding the obvious throughout the film, Boone gives a thoroughly credible performance of a troubled man who labors under the misapprehension that he is God.

Jess jokes that if any more pins are used to stay away from his area of the cemetery. As Jeff leaves, Bob's fiancée, Ann Craig (Peggy Maurer) arrives. She lightly complains that she was stood up for their lunch date. Bob and Ann quickly make up. Bob goes back to the map and randomly places a black pin on a plot.
