Joyce Jonathan, née d'une mère juive tunisienne 1, Patricia Tartour, directrice et fondatrice de l'agence de voyage Maison de la Chine 1, et d'un père architecte 2, est la benjamine de trois sœurs (ses grandes sœurs se prénomment Victoria et Sarah), et a deux demi-frères. Elle fait sa scolarité à l' École alsacienne, à Paris 3 .
