13 set 2021 · David Thomas is one of the founding members of the short-lived Rocket from the Tombs (1974–1975), in which he played under the moniker “Crocus Behemoth”. From 1975 he has been very busy with Pere Ubu and his solo releases. Though primarily a singer, he sometimes plays melodeon, trombone, musette, guitar or other instruments.
In 1996 David Thomas was invited by an American university to give a lecture on "The Geography of Sound In The Magnetic Age", which was later repeated around the world. In 1998 London mounted a four-day festival with the title "David Thomas: Disastodrome!", followed a few months later in New York by another four-day event, at the Knitting Factory, entitled "The Fall of The Magnetic Empire".
