"The Fighter" risulta un film riuscito, certo lontano dai capostipiti del genere, ma che comunque presenta qualche variante nuova sul tema. La regia di Russell è ottima anche se meno personale rispetto all'esordio in "Three Kings", cast di primo livello tra cui si innalza uno straordinario Christian Bale che evidentemente in precedenza era stato troppo oscurato dalla maschera di Batman.
