Maria Stuarda (AFI: /stuˈarda/; in inglese Mary Stuart; Linlithgow, 8 dicembre 1542 – Fotheringhay, 8 febbraio 1587) è stata regina di Scozia dal 14 dicembre 1542 al 24 luglio 1567, regina consorte di Francia dal 10 luglio 1559 al 5 dicembre 1560 e regina d'Inghilterra per i legittimisti inglesi dell'epoca che non riconoscevano Elisabetta I come legittima erede di Enrico VIII.

5 giu 2018 · Schiller is, however, also famous for his drama about Elizabeth I and Mary Stuart. “Maria Stuart”, as it is called in the German original, is often discussed in university courses. I had the pleasure (and the duty) to work with it during my introductory course to German drama, and it is worth to look at the play from a literary and historical perspective.
In Schiller’s hands the play and story leans heavily in the favor of Mary Stuart, and Elizabeth I comes across as the villain, if there is one. Elizabeth’s machinations and manipulations of others without her being honest in her intentions makes her a sharp contrast to Schiller’s Mary, who ends the play being brutally self-honest and content with her fate.
Marie Stuart (en allemand : Maria Stuart) est une pièce de théâtre classique de Friedrich von Schiller parue en 1800 [1]. Elle dépeint les derniers jours de Marie d'Écosse [ 2 ] . Créée le 14 juin 1800 à Weimar , elle a notamment servi de base pour l'opéra de Gaetano Donizetti , Maria Stuarda (1834) [ 3 ] .
