Andrew Marvell ( / ˈmɑːrvəl, mɑːrˈvɛl /; 31 March 1621 – 16 August 1678) was an English metaphysical poet, satirist and politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1659 and 1678. During the Commonwealth period he was a colleague and friend of John Milton.

Poeta inglese, nato il 31 marzo 1621 a Winestead (Yorkshire), morto a Londra nell'agosto 1678. Suo padre era un prete anglicano; egli venne educato alla scuola di Hull e poi a Cambridge, dove si laureò nel 1638. Poi fece il "Grand Tour" dell'Europa nel 1642-46, visitando Olanda, Francia, Italia e Spagna. Nel 1645 era a Roma.
