Synopsis. Having worked hard to overcome addiction Mairi is now ready to be a mother to her estranged daughter Theresa, but can a mother and daughter’s bond really survive fourteen years apart or are they now simply strangers.
Titled Mairi: The Romance of a Highland Maiden, the film is the dramatised account of a young girl in love with a Revenue Officer who is caught up in a fight to catch smugglers. At one point there is a scene where actors Tom Snowie and Donald Dallas are fighting on a cliff top, before Snowie is exchanged for a dummy and thrown over the edge.
Robert Burns overcomes his upbringing as a farm labourer to become the national poet of Scotland. Love comes his way in the form of Jean Armour but his attempts at securing a happy relationship are blighted by Jean's father who disapproves of Burns.
