26 lug 2023 · Ulf (or Ulf Jarl) (Ulf Thorgilsson) was a Danish earl (jarl). As a Viking chieftain he participated in Cnut the Great's conquest of England as one of his most trusted men. He married Cnut's sister Estrid Svendsdatter and from c. 1024 he was his appointee as regent of Denmark, probably as the guardian of Cnut's young son Harthacnut.

1 mag 2024 · Biografi. Ulf var jarl av Skåne och blev senare jarl av Danmark. Ulf Jarl kom från en framstående släkt och historiker tror att han förmodligen var son till Torgils Sprakalägg. Han var gift med danske kung Knut (den stores) syster, Estrid Svendsdatter och blev far till Sven Estridsson som senare blev kung i Danmark.

12 dic 2023 · Ulf Thorgilsson, Jarg of Skane, was the husband of Cnut's half-sister Estrid; he was instructed to guide Harthacnut. Ulf disobeyed Cnut's orders; he arranged for Harthacnut to be recognised by the Danes as their king, disregarding Cnut. Ulf was remiss in repelling Swedish and Norwegian invaders, which explained why there were so many incursions.
