u-gakugei.ac.jp. Tokyo Gakugei University (東京学芸大学, Tōkyō gakugei daigaku) is a national university in Koganei, Tokyo. Founded in 1873, it was chartered as a university in 1949. It is also known as Gakudai (学大) and TGU, for short.

The International Student Exchange Center serves a wide variety of purposes. It offers Japanese language preparatory education and Japanese Studies classes to international students, provides counseling and advice related to both academics and everyday living, and investigates best practices in education.
Our program involves four universities in Tokyo metropolitan area: Tokyo Gakugei, Saitama, Chiba, Yokohama National. TGU plays the administrative role in the program, which is composed of independent courses.
東京学芸大学 （とうきょうがくげいだいがく、 英語: Tokyo Gakugei University ）は、 東京都 小金井市 貫井北町 四丁目1番1号に本部を置く 日本 の 国立大学 。 1873年 創立、 1949年 大学設置。 大学の略称 は 学芸大 、 学芸 、 学大 [注 1] 。 概説. 1949年 （ 昭和 24年）にそれまでの 東京府立 の 東京府師範学校 や 東京府女子師範学校 から派生した4つの 師範学校 （ 東京第一師範学校 ・同女子部、 東京第二師範学校 ・同女子部、 東京第三師範学校 、 東京青年師範学校 ）を母体に統合してできた大学である [注 2] 。
