16 nov 2023 · Folk singer Patty Griffin, 59, says her second Grammy Award came on the heels of a tough breast cancer battle that caused her to lose her voice because of cancer treatment. Griffin was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in 2016. She underwent surgery and radiation before reaching remission.
However, upon her divorce in 1992, Griffin found herself on her own and began to perform in Boston-area coffeehouses. She quickly attracted attention to her well-crafted songs and gutsy vocals.
