Emerson, Lake & Powell, sometimes abbreviated as ELP, were an English progressive rock band, considered by many as a variant lineup of Emerson, Lake & Palmer, that released one official studio album in 1986.
Emerson, Lake & Powell è stato un gruppo musicale rock progressivo britannico formato da due membri degli Emerson, Lake & Palmer e da Cozy Powell, attivo dal 1985 al 1986 e che ha pubblicato un solo album in studio nel 1986.
Cozy Powell (born Colin Trevor Flooks; 29 December 1947 – 5 April 1998) was an English drummer who made his name with major rock bands and artists such as The Jeff Beck Group, Rainbow, Michael Schenker Group, Gary Moore, Graham Bonnet, Brian May, Whitesnake, Emerson, Lake & Powell, and Black Sabbath.
Nel 1986 si cimenta per la prima volta nel rock progressivo sostituendo Carl Palmer negli Emerson, Lake & Palmer (divenuti quindi Emerson, Lake & Powell) mentre l'anno dopo collabora con il jazzista Peter York per un album di sola batteria, Super Drumming.
In 1986 the mighty hammer of the god (behind the drums) Cozy Powell joined and became "P" in the legendary Prog-rock trio "ELP".

29 dic 2018 · La sua anima da giramondo lo porta poi negli Whitesnake di David Coverdale e in una singolare avventura con Keith Emerson e Greg Lake, con i quali forma lo strano trio Emerson Lake & Powell. Nel 1989 si unisce ai Black Sabbath, che lascia dopo breve tempo per vagabondare ancora tra le più diverse esperienze e collaborazioni.
5 apr 2024 · In 1986, after participating in the Phenomena project and helping out with the formation of Blue Murder, Cozy shocked the world by joining Emerson, Lake And Palmer members Keith Emerson and Greg Lake in a reconstituted version of ELP, renamed Emerson, Lake And Powell.
