Childhood friends Whitfield Crane and Klaus Eichstadt took an interest in music while growing up in Palo Alto, California. In 1989 James Lambert and Eichstadt joined Crane's band in Isla Vista, California, and the trio recorded a demo with another Palo Alto native, record producer Eric Valentine.

21 apr 2023 · Klaus Eichstadt is the original guitarist for the longtime hard rock/metal band Ugly Kid Joe. Ugly Kid Joe had tremendous success in the early 90’s when their first two records went double platinum. Their debut, As Ugly As They Wanna Be, was the first debut EP to ever go platinum.
