David Baynton-Power (born 29 January 1961, in Kent, England) is a musician, best known as drummer of the long-existing English rock band James. He has a recognizable and characteristic way of playing the drums , moving his sticks in a circular motion as the songs build up.
Tim pursued Dave after being told by his clairvoyant to watch out for a “Dave from Wrexham”. In the end, the band offered to pay for a van to bring Dave and his gear and his family over from Wales to audition.

Whiplash is the seventh studio album by English rock band James. It was released on 24 February 1997, through Fontana Records. Following the release of the band's experimental sixth studio album Wah Wah (1994), they began working on a follow-up in 1995 at drummer David Baynton-Power 's home studio.
