  2. The Roxbury Latin School (informally known as RL) is a private, college-preparatory all-boys day school located in West Roxbury, Boston, Massachusetts. Founded in 1645 by Puritan missionary John Eliot, Roxbury Latin bills itself as the oldest boys' school in North America and the oldest school in continuous existence in North America.

  6. The Roxbury Latin School was founded in 1645, in the reign of King Charles I, by John Eliot. Eliot was a church teacher, and he was later renowned as the “Apostle to the Indians” and the translator of the Bible into the Algonquin language.
