It has 1,627 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 27 to 1. According to state test scores, 21% of students are at least proficient in math and 45% in reading.
Mission & History. Rivers challenges students to attain their highest levels of excellence in academics, arts, and athletics. We set high standards and expect students to participate actively in their learning.
Rivers School was founded in 1915 as an educational institution for boys in Brookline, Massachusetts. Robert W. Rivers founded the school and was its first headmaster. The Country Day School for Boys of Boston merged with Rivers in 1940, and the school moved to its present location in Weston in 1960. It became co-educational in 1989.
Athletics at Rivers complements our rigorous academic program and provides another arena in which students can excel. The personal growth and achievements realized by our student athletes provide them with a balance between academic pursuits, physical endeavors, and social interaction.
