David Isberg (born 23 February 1975) is a Swedish musician who founded the Swedish progressive death metal band Opeth.

Formed in 1990, the group originally featured vocalist David Isberg, guitarists Micke Bargström and Dan Nilsson, bassist Martin Persson, and drummer Rille Even. Isberg reformed the band the following year with Mikael Åkerfeldt, who would later take over as frontman in 1992.

Opeth was formed as a death metal band in 1989 in Stockholm, Sweden, by David Isberg, with some friends from Täby; [8] Isberg was the lead vocalist. [9] The band name was taken from the Wilbur Smith novel The Sunbird, in which Opet is the name of a fictional city. [10]
