The Black Disciples (often abbreviated as the BD's) is a large street gang based in Chicago, Illinois. History. In 1958, a group of young teenagers from the Hyde Park, Englewood, and Kenwood areas of Chicago formed an organization known as the "Devil's Disciples".
Black gangs were created as protection against white violence. They first arose on the Eastside of LA before extending south and west. Eventually, white residents began moving out of South LA into the suburbs. In the early 1960s, Black gang violence continued to grow as whites left the area.
The Black Gang was a rock music trio formed in 1997 by American musician Mike Watt to record and tour behind his second solo album, Contemplating The Engine Room (Columbia Records, 1997).
