  5. Magdalen College was founded in 1458 by William Waynflete, Bishop of Winchester, and Lord Chancellor. It is one of the oldest, largest, and most beautiful colleges in Oxford.

  6. The College will be closed to all visitors on 27 September, October 6th and 20 December – 31 December, all dates inclusive, but see below for New Year’s Day 2025). Despite being in the centre of Oxford, Magdalen is teeming with flora and fauna, including kingfishers, and otters.

  7. Magdalen College School produced some of the best grammar masters of the 16th century, who were pioneers of Latin textbook teaching. In 1491, the 16 Choristers on the foundation of the college received their elementary education in the Song School, from the Informator Choristarum.
