Biografia. Nacque a Johannesburg, in Sudafrica, nel 1909. Negli anni trenta lavorò in alcuni film britannici tra cui The Saint in New York (1938), tratto dal romanzo di Leslie Charteris, mentre l'anno successivo interpretò La maschera di ferro (1939), nel doppio ruolo di Luigi XIV di Francia e del suo gemello.
Louis Hayward died on 21 February 1985 at the age of 75 in Palm Springs, California from lung cancer. Hayward publicly stated that his more than five-decade-long habit of smoking three packs of cigarettes daily was the likely cause of his cancer.
