Constance Edwina Lewis, CBE (formerly Grosvenor, née Cornwallis-West; 16 May 1877 – 21 January 1970), also known as Shelagh, was an English socialite and peeress.
19 ott 2015 · In 1911, Hugh Grosvenor, the 2nd Duke of Westminster purchased the tiara for the first of his four wives, Constance Cornwallis-West (better known as “Shelagh”).
Constance Edwina Cornwallis-West was the youngest child of William and Mary "Patsy" FitzPatrick. Her father was Member of Parliament for Denbighshire West and served as Lord-Lieutenant of Denbighshire from 1872 to 1917 and his mother was known as a great beauty and leading socialite.
The first of them, Constance Cornwallis-West, was the mother of the Duke's children, all of whom were older than the Duchess herself. The couple spent most of their time at Eaton Hall in Cheshire and at Lochmore.
Constance Edwina (Shelagh) Cornwallis-West (1876-1971), the sister of en:Daisy, Princess of Pless, married en:Hugh Grosvenor, 2nd Duke of Westminster on 16 February 1901 and gave birth to three children.
