Robert Norman Waddell ONZM (born 7 January 1975) is a New Zealand Olympic Gold Medalist and double World Champion Single sculler rower, and America's Cup yachtsman. He is a triple New Zealand Supreme 'Halberg Awards' Sportsperson of the year winner, 1998 to 2000.

1 lug 2019 · Waddell began his international rowing career in 1995, competing in the men’s pair and men’s coxed pair at the World Rowing Championships. An issue with his heart saw him switch to single sculling and he started racking up medals in the men’s single.
Rob Waddell first competed in the single sculls at Atlanta in 1996 as a 21-year-old, and dominated the event in 2000 to win New Zealand’s only gold medal of the Sydney games. He had also won the world title in successive years 1998 and 1999 but for all his success, he left rowing to pursue a career in sailing.
