The Brides in the Bath is a 2003 television film by Yorkshire Television for ITV, based on the life and trial of British serial killer and bigamist George Joseph Smith, the "Brides in the Bath Murderer". Martin Kemp plays the role of Smith, and Richard Griffiths plays barrister Sir Edward Marshall-Hall.

With Martin Kemp, Richard Griffiths, Charlotte Randle, Emma Owen. Dramatisation of the real-life case of George Joseph Smith who was hanged in 1915 for the murder of his three wives, each of whom he killed in turn by drowning them in the bath while trying to make the deaths look like accidents.
For dramatic purposes the film alters the story somewhat. It has two of the wives meeting up at the trial; Caroline Thornhill, his only legal wife, who fled to Canada in 1903 after giving evidence against Smith in an earlier case, and the loyal Edith, who is left at the end of the film standing in a bit of a daze.
George Joseph Smith (Martin Kemp) successively drowns each of his three wives in the bathtub, then tries to make the incidents look accidental.

George Joseph Smith (11 January 1872 – 13 August 1915) was an English serial killer and bigamist who was convicted and subsequently hanged for the murders of three women in 1915. The case became known as the Brides in the Bath Murders.
