Daughter of Shanghai is a 1937 American crime film directed by Robert Florey and starring Anna May Wong, Charles Bickford and Buster Crabbe. Unusually for the time, East Asian American actors played the lead roles. It was also one of the first films in which Anthony Quinn appeared.

Daughter of Shanghai (1937) Anna May Wong was the first Asian-American actress to achieve international fame, but her Hollywood career was a source of constant frustration. Consigned to freelancing, Wong never secured real creative control over her pictures and so was largely forced into stereotyped supporting roles in B films.
Fantastically plotted and directed to pack two hours worth of story into its 62-minute runtime, Robert Florey’s Daughter of Shanghai stars the pioneering Anna May Wong as Lan Ying Lin, a San Francisco woman searching for the human traffickers who murdered her father.
