Description. This theater museum collection’s namesake is Esther-Rachel (Ester-Rokhl) Kaminska. Esther-Rachel’s reputation was marked by her far-reaching talent as a preeminent Yiddish actor, the maternal presence she projected to her fellow actors and admirers, and the hurdles she overcame in putting on Yiddish theater in the Russian Empire.

Si affermò (1888) nella compagnia del marito Abraham Kamiński e si dedicò alla valorizzazione e alla diffusione del repertorio in lingua yiddish, da lei portato anche negli USA nel 1912-13.
Assistettero ai suoi spettacoli, fra gli altri, Friederich Dürrenmatt, Arthur Miller, e Max Frisch, a cui nel 1966 venne chiesto quali spettacoli volesse vedere nei teatri di Varsavia e rispose: «Tango di Mrożek, e ovviamente Ida Kaminska al Teatro Ebraico!»53.
In 1926, Ida Kaminska and Zygmunt Turkov, both prominent actors and directors of Poland’s Yiddish literary theater opened a museum in the residential apartment of Ida’s mother, Esther Rokhl Kaminska at Obozhna 11 in Warsaw.
Most of her career, Ester Rachel performed in theatres run by her husband, Abraham Isaak Kamiński. In 1913, she started her own theatre group, “Ester Rachel and Ida Kamińskie.” She performed in the USA, London, Paris, Moscow and played in Yiddish films: “Mirele Efros,” “Der Unbekanter,” “Di Sztifmuter,” “Tkijes kaf.”
