Bïa Krieger, better known mononymously as Bïa, is a Brazilian-born singer and recording artist who lives in France and Quebec. She sings in French, Portuguese and Spanish. Her recording career began in 1996 and currently she has at least eight albums.

Her parents and she were eventually forced to flee from the military dictatorship that took power in Brazil in 1964, reigning, with terror, until 1974, and not completely ousted until the amnesty of 1980. The regime didn’t like dissent, and when the dissent took form in popular music, reprisals were made.
Bïa Krieger left Brazil at the age of three, when her leftist parents were forced into exile during the military dictatorship of the 1960s and 70s. She returned to Brazil in 1980 and finished university in São Paulo before moving to France. Bïa now divides her time between Paris and Montreal.
